StorHub Wins Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) Initiative Award For Three Consecutive Years

Singapore, 14 June 2024 – We are pleased to announce that we have won the Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) Initiative Award- Singapore & Asia at the Self Storage Awards Asia ceremony 2024 for the third year running! StorHub would like to take this opportunity to thank the Self Storage Association Asia for recognising our ESG efforts over the years, our customers for their steadfast support, and the StorHub team for showing exemplary dedication as we continue to meet our ESG goals.

Environmental

StorHub makes a conscious effort to look after our environment by making good use of clean and energy efficient solutions. We continue to walk the talk through concerted efforts as new green initiatives are being implemented progressively. Our storage facilities across StorHub Singapore, Hong Kong, Mainland China, Australia, Korea, and Japan are currently harnessing solar energy to power operations using solar panels with a total generation capacity of 2,716 kilowatt peak (kWp) across these markets. This is equivalent to a reduction of almost 1,320 tonnes of carbon emissions per year as 3.11 gigawatt-hours of renewable energy is being produced annually from a total of 6,617 solar panels.

We also have dedicated spaces for our electric vehicle (EV) charging stations as electric cars generate zero greenhouse emission on the roads. There are currently a total of 53 EV charging points installed at StorHub facilities across Singapore, Mainland China, and Korea. LED lights are installed across those markets as well as Hong Kong, Australia, Malaysia, and Japan. 95% of our Singapore facilities are installed with LED lights, while 100% of our new facilities in Japan have LED lights installed. StorHub facilities in Hong Kong, Malaysia, Korea, and Australia are fully installed with LED lights. We also operate an aquaponics system in Singapore that is able to produce 400 pieces of vegetables per month including Romaine lettuce and Kailan with hydroponics. The system couples aquaculture with hydroponics using nutrient-rich aquaculture water so that plants can be grown hydroponically, using 90% less water than traditional farming. Aquaculture forms part of the re-circulating system, allowing us to grow edible fish in our fish tank which contains nutrient-rich water.

StorHub was also the first in the self storage sector in Asia to secure a SGD180 million sustainability-linked loan (SLL) in 2023 which was received from CIMB and UOB in recognition of our commitment to sustainability. On top of that, we will be achieving LEED certification, a globally acknowledged symbol of sustainability achievement and leadership, making us the largest LEED certified portfolio of self storage facilities in Singapore.

Social

At StorHub, we give back to the community to the best of our abilities as we work towards making a difference in everyone’s lives. Last year, StorHub volunteers made a point of helping some of our CSR partners out such as Angel Hearts to upcycle StorHub merchandise by repurposing the items into handcrafted bags and booties for local medical institutions, Mediacorp in their yearly Care & Share campaign to provide families in need with gift packs containing daily essentials, SingYouth Hub at their Christmas event to pack festive goodie bags, label prizes and wrap gifts for the elderly at Sarah Active Aging Centre, and so on.

Aside from caring for our community, our people at StorHub are also our top priority. We continue to ensure that all StorHub employees are entitled to annual health screenings and dental benefits. Governance

Our business is carried out in an honest and ethical manner with transparency and accountability deeply ingrained in our company culture. Every year, anti-bribery and anti-corruption trainings are conducted so that all our employees are kept up to date on our zero-tolerance approach to bribery and corruption wherever we operate.
